Hulu and ABC have been knocking it out of the park lately with their partnership. After adding Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and Castle, they've also begun streaming their catalog with today's epic addition of the entire series of My So-Called Life. Re-watch it, re-live it, and if you're anything like me, re-hate Angela for ignoring Brian Krakow and loving Jordan Catalano, who can't read. They made a whole episode about how he can't read!
Really, Angela. If Krakow cut his hair, he'd look fine. Think about it, girl. Jordan Catalano is going nowhere in life!
But, of course, it wouldn't have been the angsty gem it was if these teenagers did what was best for them. Hey, remember when Rickie was homeless?
I'll be honest -- the end of that episode, in the church, still makes me cry every time. Oh, this show.
Watch all 19 episodes here, if you have a really boring job. I also recommend the one with the "cool" teacher who gets fired for being too cool. Blew my censorship-hating young mind at the time.
And as always, leave your So-Called love and memories in the comments.

Why am I so excited about this when I already have the DVDs? I guess there's never too much MSCL. Although, I do blame this show for introducing over-use of the word "like" into my speech patterns. :)
Every time I watch MSCL again, I start thinking in Angela's dialect - long pauses, introspection, "like" as supermeaningful...
I too have the dvds, but was psyched to see it on Hulu! I know what I'll be doing during my lunch break!
It's cool that more people can watch this sometimes-great show. The Our Town episode is the one that always makes me bawl, though the "very special" ones seem even more dated/preachy now.
I'm gonna have to agree with the other two...bought the DVDs a few months ago but this just made my week. Sigh. "I love the way he leans...."
I agree with Karen... the end of that episode gets me every frakking time.
Awesome! I see your point about Brian BUT JORDAN FREAKIN CATALANO!!! That boy did know how to lean...
Oh, how I love this show! I swore I was Angela in high school. The guy I was in love with was also a moron too, but so pretty and such a good leaner.
This show was soo wrongly cancelled after one effin season. oh the early 90s grunge years... i wanted to dye my hair red, wear flannels, and it even inspired me to read Our Town. i miss this show. and lastly, i too, was a victim of jordan's beauty that was so beautiful, it hurt to look at him.
Okay, I love this show, but seriously? Krakow, fro-or-no, could have easily grown up to be a stalker. EASILY.
Also, didn't Devon Gummersall play a creep in Felicity years later?
That said, he's cute today.
Word! I was always "Team Krakow" and never understood Catalano's illiterate douchebag appeal. Can't wait to relive all the angsty goodness.
And yes Devon Gummersall's character on "Felicity" date-raped her roommate.
Neither was a good choice. I am really not a fan of what I call the Duckie Championing--Krakow was a jerk in his own way. If he loved her so, why don't I recall him ever treating her with kindness or respect? Okay, he gave her his sweater that one time. Big deal. Most of the time he insulted her. Catalano: eh, we've all made that mistake.
I've always heard about this show and been vaguely curious, so I just watched the pilot. I know what I'll be doing for the rest of the week.
Dawson's creek had nothing on MSCL!! I miss this show and the 90's. Rickie was my fav. And team Krakow.
"Betrayal," the Our Town ep. When Angela can barely get out, "Were you happy?" and Rayanne just, so sad, so quiet, so honest..."No." I'm tearing up just THINKING about it. Jordan/Brian, I was into the triangle, but my heart was all about Rayanne. She was in love with Angela in her own way, and messed it up just like everything else in her life, like an inevitability. Totally heartbreaking.
And seriously just one of the best casts ever. LOVE this show!
You just have to watch the pilot to become addicted. As was true for me when they showed it on MTV starting in March 1995. (Sadly, I missed all but bits of its original run, on a network that didn't deserve to have it.)
It's a 19-episode (900-minute) tour de force that forms one tapestry, of about five months in these teenagers' (and their parents' and teachers') lives. Yet each episode does stand more or less on its own.
And then once you've seen this on Hulu, you'll clamor for the Shout Factory six-DVD set, with its book and its bonus disc of interviews and retrospectives. (Also many commentary tracks.)
Claire Danes's Angela was the epicenter of an earthquake of fine writing, wry comedy, well-turned drama, stellar acting, superb production values. It still shakes me up, fifteen years later. And I was nearly 20 years out of high school when I first saw it.
This has earned the highest possible recommendation as the best of '90s (and even '00s, so far) network television. Watch it NOW. Get hooked. You'll be glad you did.
I've left the U.S. for a couple of years so I can't watch Hulu and I already own the DVDs, but I still think this is fantastic news. Every 14-year-old girl should watch this show. And then be told that Brian Krakow is where it's at. I watched this show on MTV in 1995, when I was 15 and clueless, and I wish someone had told me that. Greatest. Show. Ever.
Also, OT, but I kind of can't believe TWOP appears to have closed the comments on the post by the 21-year-old writing about 90s teen shows. I actually was going to write a positive comment, even! But I think it's b.s. for TWOP to close comments because readers didn’t like content. I've been reading this site since it was Mighty Big TV and I was really disappointed in it today. Snark goes both ways, friends.

Wow, so I think I only watched one or two eps during the original run (I was in college at the time -- too old?) but I know this show is beloved so I sat and watched the whole series run last weekend. I love that Angela can only say his full name (except for one time)the entire series.
As someone said above, dammit that Jordan Catalano can lean... I replayed when he leans on her outside the dance.
Sorry, not a fan of Brian Krakow at all. The 3 or 4th ep where the note was going around re: Angela sleeping with Jordan Catalano, Brian read it -- and passed it on. Nice friend. (Of course so did Rayanne, but she sucked, too.) He told everyone but Angela that Rayanne slept with Jordan. He totally dissed that one girl to take Angela to the dance, which happens, I guess. But I do love how the dissed girl just hates him the rest of the season...
I like to think that Ricky and Angela are still friends to this day.. Rayanne, not so much, and Jordan Catalano is probably her favorite mistake..
Just finished watching the entire run. Most characters had a good resolution at the end (I love it when they do that). I wasn't too happy that Angela got in the car with Jordan and drove away at the end though. So you think she stayed with him after what she had just found out?
