Top 10 Reality TV Couples Hall of Fame

by admin February 11, 2008 1:11 pm
In conjunction with Valentine's Day, we named some of reality's coolest couples.

1. Suzy Preston & Matt Hoover of The Biggest Loser
Love, as they say, comes in all shapes and sizes. Matt Hoover and Suzy Preston first laid eyes on each other at their absolute worst: Matt, a former wrestling coach, was 339 pounds, while Suzy, a hairstylist, was 227 pounds! The two fell in love during the series and together they lost a combined 252 pounds. On March 28, 2006, Matt popped the question on NBC's Today show and the two had their first child, a baby boy, on June 23, 2007. Still together and still going strong, Suzy and Matt are our Biggest Winners in love.

2. Travis Barker & Shanna Moakler of Meet the Barkers
Shanna Moakler has done what millions of Americans can only dream of: punch Paris Hilton in the face. Love is a battlefield. Moakler, a former Miss USA and Playboy model turned TV actress, married Travis Barker, the mohawked drummer of Blink-182 in October 2004 after he proposed to her at the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland. Together they starred in MTV's reality series, Meet the Barkers, appeared together in an episode of CSI, and had two children together. Barker eventually filed for divorce in August 2006 and a week later, Barker was allegedly seeing Paris Hilton. This led to a confrontation at an L.A nightclub where Moakler was accused of battery against Paris. No charges came out of the brouhaha, but Barker and Moakler did briefly reconcile before separating for good in July of 2007. Shanna is currently hosting The CW's Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants.

3. Rob Mariano & Amber Brkich of Survivor
In the cutthroat, dog-eat-dog world of reality television, apparently love is not lost. While they started out separate -Boston Rob was a construction foreman on Survivor: Marquesas, while Amber, an administrative assistant, was on Survivor: Australian Outback -- fate threw them together as they competed against each other on Survivor: All Stars. By the end of the competition, the twosome had found love, won a million dollars, and left the show as one of reality television's longer lasting couples. They were wed in 2005 in the Bahamas and have competed on The Amazing Race, where they placed second.

4. LC & Brody The Hills
Are they or aren't they? LC and Brody hooked up after their relationships with Laguna Beach alums Jason Whaler and Kristin Cavallari fell apart. The reality show royalty met on The Hills and now have 'frenemies' in common -- The Hills's Spencer hates LC and therefore hates Brody for remaining friends with her. After breaking up for a short period of time, the two got back together last seaon. MTV keeps stringing their possible relationship along, but as long as these two have a show, this reality show power couple will keep playing along.

5. Hugh Hefner & Playboy Girls of The Girls Next Door
The Playboy mogul has had his fair share of girlfriends, from Playboy bunny Barbi Benton to Baywatch babe Brande Roderick and everyone in between. But none have registered as highly in popular television as his three current girlfriends, the stars of E's The Girls Next Door: Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt, and Kendra Wilkinson. Not only has the show gained them legions of fans, it's also given them honorary bunny status, as they're the only "non-bunnies" to have actually appeared in the pages of Playboy. How long they will last still remains to be seen, but either way, the ladies have definitely made their mark on the reality couples scene.

6. Michelle Deighton & Johnny Fairplay of America's Next Top Model & Survivor
She was known for coming down with a treatable skin disease on Top Model, while he was known for pulling off the biggest prank in Survivor history. After meeting on the set of the defunct FoxReality show Camp Reality in the fall of 2005, these two became inseperable and quickly got engaged. They also already have reality-tv plans for their offspring, baby girl Piper Addison who was born in January of 2008.

7. Trista & Ryan Sutter of The Bachelorette
Trista Rehn began her career in reality-tv as a contestant on the dating competition series The Bachelor. While she didn't win that season, she was so popular with audiences that ABC offered her the chance to be on the opposite end of the dating game challenge in The Bachelorette, where she would choose her mate. She chose firefighter Ryan Sutter, they televised their wedding, had baby boy Maxwell in the summer of 2007, and currently hold the title of the only couple spawned of The Bachelor to have actually lasted beyond brand.

8. Reverend Run & Justine Simmons of Run's House
As one half of the historical and highly influential rap group, Run D.M.C., Joseph Simmons has become a pioneer in the hip hop world, but has only recently become a powerhouse in television with the reality show that features his ever-growing family. Justine is his second wife, the mother of 3 of his children (with the recent addition of adopted baby Miley, who's set to debut on the show this year), and the yin to Rev. Run's yang. Even Brad Pitt is a fan of this couple that relies on their faith during the bad times, on their love during the great ones, and will surely outlast us all.

Nick Lachey & Jessica Simpson of Newlyweds
These two made their claim to fame by being the power couple of reality television, basing their show around their relationship and the funny situations that occur during the honeymoon stages of a couple really getting to know each other. While Jessica became the breakout star of the series, their marriage ultimately became its greatest casualty, with the two splitting less than a year after the finale of the series. Nevertheless, they've made their mark on the reality television couple hall of fame, and deserve a spot on this list.

10. Ozzy & Sharon Osbourne of The Osbournes
Despite the potty-mouthed children, battles with drug addictions, and even a murder attempt in 1989, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have a love that seems to have endured just about everything. After over 25 years of marriage, these two have earned a spot in the pantheon of American reality television, as the king and queen of reality pairs to really reap the benefits of the celebreality machine, and also as the reigning couple who haven't been hit with the break-up curse of reality tv. And here's to hoping they never will!

It doesn't get more Odd Couple than Rob and Big. Rob Dyrdek is a professional street skater and Christopher "Big Black" Boykin, Rob's best friend and bodyguard, is a 375-pound, 6-foot-6-inch African American executive protection specialist. They live together in the Hollywood Hills, along with their dog Meaty and his companion, Mini Horse, where they get caught up in crazy stunts and find themselves in unusual situations. Together, they form one of the most genuine couples on reality T.V, truly friends until the end.
