BLOGS
We couldn't think of a more appropriate show to kick off our new Going Through Channels format -- which will spotlight one particularly noteworthy show each day -- than this one.
High school football season may be long over, but it is just getting started for Friday Night Lights fans who have been stuck in the dark without access to the DirecTV airings. The show makes its long-awaited (and some what surprising) return to NBC (I was bracing myself in case they found a way to pull the rug out from under us), and it is on Friday nights, which makes sense. And since it is airing in the winter, there're no stupid excuses about how the people this show would feasibly appeal to are out at real games or something. Basically, it is time for fans to put up or shut up. The show is good and it gets amazing critical buzz. Now it's time to see if it can get a few more butts in the bleachers. And all you girls (and guys) who are just watching for the beauty that is Tim Riggins better tell everyone you know to watch or DVR it.
Tonight's third season premiere is certainly worthy of some attention. (You die hard fans can find more teasers for this episode here.) There's plenty of familial drama, high school angst and discussion about the future of the Dillon Panthers football team. It's a great balance of all the things that this show does best, and a perfect example for those who have wanted to watch and just haven't found the time. Even if you don't know a pigskin from a pig in a blanket, there's enough teen and adult relationship stuff to keep you hooked. So get ready for some football. At least this is likely to disappoint you less than this year's forthcoming Super Bowl.

Ummmm... I thought this was Going Through Channels... I came looking for my five snarky oneliners about tonights television viewing and instead found a blog about a show I don't watch or care about. Not funny, Angel. Keep this in The Telefile wehre it belongs.
Still love you.
I was okay with the spotlight (although I do think that is what the Telefile is for) but then really disappointed that there were no show recs or pans.
I adore this show. I think it's pretty awesome and it deserves as much coverage as it can get.
Yeah, I kinda love the old format with the snark and the silliness. It was brilliant that way.
While this show is great, what about "Battlestar Galactica" which starts again tonight to (for the last season for that matter)? I think they both count as great, under appreciated shows.
watch friday night lights @ 9 and then switch promptly to battlestar galactica @ 10!
no reason you shouldn't be able to support two awesome shows, right?
Yeah, I am missing the old format that listed several shows - I know that way helped me see several shows I might have missed or forgotten were coming back a particular night. If I want to read about just one particular show, I can go look at the forums.
I definitely liked the old version better - it was a nice little reminder of what's coming up tonight, as well as let me know about quirky other shows I might not have known about!
This one show format sucks.
Yeah, the blog is called, "Going Through the ChannelS." Not just going to one channel and talking about one show. I think it would be cool to highlight one show that is deemed worthy enough, but still show some other things that are on also.
