Friday, January 23, 2009: Battlestar Galactica

If you didn't watch last week's midseason return of this phenomenal space oddity, don't read any further until you do. Seriously. I warned you. Because while I'm still reeling from the utterly heartbreaking and all too realistic death of Dualla, and the reveal of the identity of the final Cylon, another episode is on tap for tonight and it is sure to be another doozy. In fact, I'm pretty much bracing myself for a rollercoaster of emotions each and every week as this show finishes out its final season.

In tonight's episode, there appears to be more than a little resistance to a human/Cylon alliance. Who'd be behind that? Yeah, Zarek, of course, and he and the fuel ship disappear, until the VP becomes Galactica's Most Wanted. This is awesome, because not all that much makes me more excited than an angry Bill Adama. Except if it is Laura Roslin mid-meltdown when all her hopes and dreams have been crushed, because that's just some stellar acting on display, and you can't fault that.

Presumably we'll get more on the fallout about Saul's discovery that Ellen is the last Cylon. Hopefully, it means that she'll somehow return, even if I personally am more than a little confused about how this whole "special model" Cylon regeneration thing works. Nor do I really understand what the hell Starbuck is, because if even Leoben (who stayed with her when she killed him repeatedly) is freaked out, it can not be good. That whole harbinger of death thing doesn't bode well for anyone. Even if I'm lacking in answers, I'm happy to be along for the ride, because this show rarely disappoints.

Admittedly the currently-airing Sci Fi episodes are not for beginners, but it doesn't mean that newcomers shouldn't be encouraged to watch this show. Quite the opposite. Go Netflix the DVDs, borrow from some friends, whatever and get started now. Then start working the word "Frak" into all of your conversations.

In the old BSG, Starbuck was an angel. Wondering if they are going with a similar but modernized concept of that.

Woohoo! I'm so excited. This one looks great.

I figure any BSG episode written, produced, and directed by RDM had got to be good, right?

Interesting photo included above. It's not often you see Adama answering questions before the press, certainly on Colonial One.

This season is going to be so awesome I can't stand it.

*Sigh* Guess I'll give up hopes of having more shows talked about on this. This section used to be one of my favorites here at TWoP.
