It's that time of year again. When the American Idol juggernaut takes over Fox and all their decent shows get shuffled off to various new and different time slots. Bones, which has been all over their schedule in its four seasons, has now landed on Thursday nights at 8 PM, where it is up against Smallville, My Name Is Earl, Survivor and Ugly Betty. While it may involve a bit of DVR juggling, it's worth finding something to bump, especially for this week's circus/conjoined twin-themed episode. Though tonight, you'll need to make room for two hours, since this winter premiere was supposed to happen last week and got bumped because of George W.'s goodbye speech.
We got a sneak peek at "Double Trouble In the Pandhandle" (the first hour) and it is filled with all of the great stuff that makes Bones the best procedural on TV. And though they still haven't found it in their hearts to fix the revolving door of Zach wannabes (and the annoying know-it-all Mr. Nigel-Murray has returned in all his irritating glory), the rest of the hour is a fun-filled romp filled with lots of Booth-Brennan sexual tension, undercover work that keeps Brennan out of the lab and right in the thick of things, and a ton of humor, and just no relationship drama (familial, dating or otherwise), which makes it damned near perfect for this series.
Booth and Brennan pose as a Russian knife-throwing duo (Buck and Wanda Moosejaw) to investigate the death of a pair of twins who are conjoined at the butt. Brennan has a bunch of previously untold circus skills (and accents!), we learn some interesting facts about Sweets' biological mom, and discover that Booth is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to knife wielding. Not sold yet? Andy Richter is the ringmaster of the circus and at one point Booth is driving a motorcycle and Brennan is in the sidecar, and there's a raucous "sex" scene that will leave you wanting more.
The second hour promises to be a good time as well, with a hockey investigation that has Booth on skates. Repeat. Booth. Skates. What are you going to watch instead? CSI without Grissom, or stupid dead Denny on Grey's? This is a much safer bet.
