BLOGS
I wrote about my obsessive adoration for this show over the holidays, but it seems like more and more people are just discovering this show (at least in my circle of friends). Which makes me feel better, since I watch so many cable shows that no one else does, and I'm always lacking for people to discuss them with. Anyway, I've been watching enthusiastic eater Adam Richman chow down on some of the most tasty, if not the most calorie-conscious, treats that America has to offer. He's such a charming guy that you just kind of want to hang out with him as he pigs out. You want to cheer him on as he tries to down the equivalent of a gallon of ice cream in milkshake form. You can't help but feel sorry for him when he doesn't achieve his mission. Though the episode where he only had two bites left of the omelet and couldn't do it... that had me shouting at the TV. Two. Bites. A normal person would not be able to even get that far, but I've come to expect more from him. He's eaten some of the most atomically hot food known to man and can scarf down steaks that are bigger than my head. Anyone who can consume a dozen plates of oysters should be able to scarf down two more bites of an omelet... no matter what the size. Irrational, I know. But it doesn't diminish my love of this show.
In tonight's new episode (airing on the Travel Channel at 10 PM) he heads to North Carolina and is competing in something called a Hot Dogger Eating Challenge, and he is visiting a place simply known as The Pit. Delicious. I have no doubt that he can handle devouring whatever insane amount of hot dogs are thrown at him. He's just got such a passion for food, and a seemingly bottomless stomach. He doesn't just eat the greasy fare simply to prove it is gastronomically possible, he actually enjoys the flavors, and gives you a real sense of what it's like dropping into one of these local haunts. He's sort of the Anthony Bourdain of down-home (usually greasy) American food. Best yet, he really seems to know that he's got a pretty sweet gig, and he's savoring every minute of it.
If Adam and his eating challenges aren't your cup of tea, check out our week in preview for other options.

Oh, I just love Adam Richmond. He is charming and has such a cool sense of humor. It's hard not fall in love with him. I think I have a bit of a crush...
i too love this show. i live in seattle and was also cheering for him to finish those last two bites of beth's oversized omelet. but at the same time repulsed by the ridiculous amount of food. love it!
LOVE THIS SHOW!!!
Angel, I'm getting a belly ache just thinking about this. I don't know if I could watch it (although maybe it would be useful to me as a weight loss approach -- you know, like aversion therapy). However, it sounds like the sort of show that would be right up my 13 year old son's alley.
