The much-anticipated not-spinoff is finally premiering tonight, sandwiched in between two brand new Office episodes in an uncharacteristically shrewd move by NBC, and I'm tentatively excited. The show has a dream cast -- Amy Poehler, Aziz Ansari, Rashida Jones, the star of my favorite Drunk History ever Paul Schneider -- and the world of small-town local government is certainly ripe for ripping on. The trepidation comes from that fact that I've grown so tired of the Office, and not only are the same people behind this show, it also relies on a mockumentary format and awkward, quiet humor from characters in a depressing workplace. So it's very similar, but I keep going back and forth on it because Leslie Knope doesn't seem like a Michael Scott, and Aziz Ansari's character looks nothing like Dwight, so maybe it will be fresh and hilarious after all. You know, like The Office used to be two seasons ago. For other viewing options, please feel free to consult our Week in Preview post.

Gettin' tired of "The Office" hatin' that seems to be in right now. Any show that goes on for as long as "The Office" has is going to start showing wear & tear. There's only so much you can ring out of a premise, and Americans can't have it both ways. If you allow shows to go on for several years, the quality average is gon'na dip. There are exceptions to this I'm sure, but I believe it holds for a majority of television.
Word. I was setting up the PVR for tonight, and found myself picking the 2nd ep. of The Office over 30 Rock (which gets nothing but praise here). I like both shows, but I want to see where Michael's resignation is going to go.
I'm also recording Parks & Rec. I love me some Amy Poehler.
The Office complaints were spot-on a few months ago... but now that the show is having a major upswing they seem lame. I mean, both of tonight's episodes were far superior than this week's 30 Rock.
Anyone complaining still complaining about "The Office" after the past few weeks is an idiot or needs to see them again. It's back on track big time.
