There is so very much wrong with this show, but yet... I keep watching it. Why? Well, there's not a ton on in the summer months, the time-wasting Bachelorette is over and it is a depressing, but fascinating look at the way society judges people based on appearances. Or at least that last one is what I tell myself to justify my continued viewership.
There is something I appreciate about the fact that it is just one episode with these people, instead of a long drawn out eight to ten week nightmare with reunions and a "men tell all" special. Even if I hate the secret lovers, they'll be gone after one episode and then I can pretend they just never existed. Oh, and I kind of adore the host Rossi Morreale (formerly the host of the underappreciated syndicated game show Temptation). He's a cheeseball, but he knows it, and he seems happy to be there in a way that Chris Harrison or Emme (on More to Love) don't. It's a tough economy, people, and Rossi, for one, appreciates the value of having any job... even if it is on a trashy dating show where strangers make out a lot.
Tonight the contestants get to judge their potential suitors on the contents of their car. Why do I foresee a lot of fast food wrappers?
