To make up for its trillion year absence, Lifetime is really going all out with Project Runway premiere night. Some of it is awesome (The All-Star Challenge) and some of it is probably a bad idea (that dumbass Models of the Runway show we're getting a whole season of). Let's discuss tonight's jumbo premiere -- this is very exciting!
The two-hour All-Star Challenge starts at 8, and it's kind of like what Top Chef Masters has been, but for Runway: Daniel V., Santino, Uli, Jeffrey Sebelia, Mychael Knight, Chris March, Sweet P and Korto will compete for $100,000. But it's not for charity like TCM was, so I guess it's also a lot like Dancing with the Stars. Anyway, I hope Daniel V. mops the floor with Jeffrey, obviously. Oh, and Nicole Kidman is on hand, but who gives a shit about Nicole Kidman anymore? Moving on.
Then the Project Runway premiere at 10, with Tim Gunn, Heidi, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia (but who gives a shit about Nina Garcia anymore? OK, I'll stop) all back in their positions, and by all accounts it looks like the show will be just as awesome as it's always been, even though it's on a crap network and set in gross L.A. now. It's gotta be better than The Fashion Show was, anyway.
And at 11, we get the half-hour show about the Runway models, but I honestly can't think of anything I want to watch less than a show about the Project Runway models, but that could just be me. Modeling shows aren't my thing. It's the stupidest profession in the world! Maybe even stupider than blogging! (Just kidding. I know nothing's stupider than blogging.)
But if you think fashion's dumb or have something against Lifetime or something, our Week in Preview has other options.

I give a big BIG BIG shit about Nicole Kidman.
Millions of people give a big big big shit about Nicole Kidman.
I'm just as excited as everyone else that Project Runway is back, but I'm very sorry to have stumbled upon this blog. It seems to me that who ever the author is has some sort of image or weight issue and feels the need to bash beautiful women. I just wanted to let you know, there are people who can help you. And, I hope that if you choose to seek it you may begin writing decent and thought provoking articles. I'm sorry to say, but I am embarrassed for you.
Oh, Jesus Christ Rachel. Mindy's just saying that Project Runway is, always has been, and always will be about the designers and the clothes, NEVER about the models. The Models of the Runway show is pointless, and no one will watch it.
I am not going to watch the show anymore because I think that Koto should have won. I think her collection was way better than Daniel.
Mia, for you're information people do watch the show. I don't think you can understand the idea of how interesting the show really is. So go back to your day time talk shows and try to tell me how important those are!
ryan, the models show hasn't even started yet. what are you basing "people do watch this show" on? the fact that your bosses at lifetime let you and the other interns watch a screener?
Ya i think Rpoject Runway is tottaly me being tuned down, sitting on a couch waiting for ideas to pop out of no where. so.....Ya watch the "BIG BANG RUNWAY THOUROFARE" and it's gonna be sick
:)
I'm with you, veronica, all of Daniels models looked like they woke up with hangovers and got dressed in the dark.
I agree with Veronica, Koto should have won, it makes you wonder about the judges ability to select the best designs. I did not even look at the season premiere afterwards because of the choice of winner they chose, not interested in watching it further this season.
Koto, should have won, all of her dresses were great and the detail was awesome. I watched the model show also, I had often wondered when choosing the models why they seem out of sorts when getting chosen by the designers. Now I know, very interesting.
Geeze, everyone's taking this so seriously. Had no idea that people actually bashed bloggers like this. Learn to have a sense of humor, much?
Models of the Runway wasn't as crappy as I thought it would be, even though of course it's completely incapable of functioning as a show on its own. But it's kind of fun to get a bit of extended footage, and to get to know the models and their relationships with the designers a bit. They seem like sweet girls for the most part, though one of them reminds me of Melrose from ANTM. Ick.
Korto really should have won the all star challenge!
Last night, the Premiere was awesome and I know TONS of people were waiting for this for a long time. I got to watch the last half of the All Star Challenge and I totally agree with the results btu I think Korto should have gotten something too because her stuff was really wearable...That aside, the move to L.A that everyone was worried about was whatever! L.A and FIDM totally added to an already amazing fashion t.v show!
KOTO SHOULD HAVE WON, BUT WE KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS!
