BLOGS
We know why you watch Leverage. It's not for the Academy Award-winning Timothy Hutton, or dreamy Angel alum Christian Kane. It's not for the great comedic timing or the elaborate con games. No, it's for the Star Trek: The Next Generation connection. Not only does computer hacker Hardison speak entirely in Star Trek and Star Wars references, but Jonathan Frakes ("Riker") has directed a few episodes of the show, and Brent Spiner ("Data") and Armin Shimerman ("Quark") even guest-starred in one of them. Well, get ready to beam directly to heaven for tonight's episode, because one of the guest stars is none other than Ensign Wesley Crusher himself -- that's right, celebrity blogger Wil Wheaton.
The best part about the role is who Wheaton plays -- he's Hardison's computer-hacker counterpart on a rival crew of thieves and fixers. When the Leverage crew is enlisted to recover a painting that was looted by the Nazis and never recovered, they cross paths with a crew run by Sophie's old con-artist partner, played by Griffin Dunne. In addition to a little romantic rivalry between him and Hutton's Nathan Ford over Sophie, the two teams go head-to-head as our heroes try to stop their mirror opposites from heisting another painting for money. And since each team member has a counterpart -- a pickpocket/thief for Parker, a sexy martial artist for Eliot, and Wheaton for Hardison -- that leaves Sophie to tip the scales. Too bad she gets blown up in the first 20 minutes. Crap.
Leverage airs tonight at 9/8C on TNT.
