This'll be a fun exercise in tip-toeing around its premise. Tonight is the very special "You Ask, Duggars Answer" episode of 18 Kids and Counting, in which I'm sure the real questions like "Aren't your kids going to come out all weird, being sheltered like this?" and "Can you just admit that you think Cousin Amy is a heathen already?" and "Why does Jinger have to do everything for everyone all the time like an indentured servant?" will be glossed over in favor of cuddlier questions like "Why are you all such hard workers and model citizens?" Ahh, such is 18 Kids and Counting.
All hope is not lost, though, I suppose. A few rare times the crew has asked the little kids challenging questions about their family's lifestyle and views on evolution and marriage in their solo interviews, but they always get the kids' robotic scripted responses and move on. I'm sure if they go there at all tonight, we'll see that again. In any case, I'm sure Jackson will say some entertaining things to make up for Jim Bob's creepiness, which is small consolation but better than none at all.
The Duggars answer all they feel like tonight on TLC at 9 PM. Yikes, just watch something else from our Week in Preview instead.

I agree with Jen. Someone is acting like some deep dark secret has to be pulled out when there is none. I think this is a wonderful loving family that the children have excellent rolemodels.

Jim Bobo continues to grow his kingdom. His wife's body is not her own, the kids go to school on a computer and don't get any schooling past the age of 16. They don't go to college. The kids have no interaction with the outside world, no friends their own age or part-time jobs, and no outside activities. The girls are nannys, cooks and maids, and the boys run around the house all day long with nothing to do. They make a lot of money from the show but act like they are paupers. The girls don't even have decent shoes -- they wear used flip flops. Michelle never interacts with any of the kids except for the youngest baby. The Duggars are a scam.
Jim Bob has several rental properties that he attends to which means he has a flexible schedule. I guess since I like going barefoot, it doesn't botheer me seeing other females wearing flip-flops. The anti-Duggar crowd, however, wouldn't see it as females being comfortable. I know plenty of people who are secular and put no pressure on their kids to get educated once they turn 16. They shrug it off as "oh well, they can legally leave school, nothing I can do about it". The anti-Duggar crowd, however, don't acknowledge those sort of parents. I saw an episode of the Duggars when the four oldest girls dropped in at a skating rink because they were "having a night out". As well, the "You Ask, Duggar's Answer" didn't go as TLC wanted it to because Jim Bob and Michelle refused to keep the four oldest girls from going on a retreat they wanted to go on.

Carle, while I do not believe in many of the things the Duggar's do, your post is almost entirely FALSE. Anyone who watches the show knows this. They DO have friends they associate with. We SEE them interacting with the outside world on almost every episode. El Salvador, San Fran, NYC..etc. and no outside activities? Are you blind? Do you even watch the show? Get a clue about your facts before you open your mouth to judge. I DO agree that Michelle's body isnt her own. I DO agree that the girls are nothing more than slaves while the boys have most of the fun. Carle, your post was mostly false. Please check your facts before you make statements about a family you dont even know.
These people are whackos and anyone who doesn't see that is equally nuts. First, they're whoring the whole family into a reality TV show for the money. Second, what Jim Bob and his wife have here is a ready made cult. How do 2 nitwits like this home-school all these kids and keep them from having a normal social life with other children? The older kids have been saddled with supervising and rearing the younger ones - something that is not their responsibility but their parents'. The mother is middle age and still trying to conceive again, threatening not only herself but the child. What these Duggars have done is nothing short of child abuse and relinquishing of parental authority. They shouldn't be on TV but rather doing some serious prison time.
