Yes, much of the appeal of Jon & Kate was how funny the kids were, but you can't deny that it became a phenomenon because the parents were awful, hateful people, and that's some fun shit to watch. There isn't any tension here, and aside from the decision to go ahead and have far too many children, there's not much to criticize about this family. The kids are all considerate, chess-playing, jazz-loving sweethearts who help out around the house and are loving and patient with their developmentally disabled little sister, and it's clearly because their parents are saints. So... you see what I mean? They are better people than I will ever be, but I watch reality television to feel superior, and so do you. I don't see much of a future for the show, but it's probably good for me to have something pleasant to watch during V commercial breaks I guess.
