Monday, January 11, 2010: How I Met Your Mother

It's finally here -- the 100th episode of How I Met Your Mother! Of course, it feels like more than 100 episodes that we've been watching Ted strike out with women, but it's been a good ride. Supposedly, tonight's episode takes him one step closer to meeting the mother, but we've been hearing that for a while, and we'll believe that when we see it. Special guest star Rachel Bilson may or may not be the child-birthing lady in question, or at least that's what they want us to believe, but we're sure it'll just be another red herring. We're more interested in the B-plot -- or is Ted's romantic journey now the B-plot? Let's say that it is. Less pressure on it to deliver week after week. (Although let's be clear on this -- Ted is still awesome.)

The A-plot, then, is Barney trying to bag the one kind of girl he has yet to score with: a sexy bartender. ...Really? Barney hasn't hooked up with a bartender? Considering how much he drinks and how much he macks and how big a tipper he probably would be if the bartender in question were sexy, I'm actually kinda stunned that's still an unsealed deal. (I also have no idea what turns on bartenders, but maybe watching a guy hit on women all night is a dealbreaker.) So Barney is after the new bartender at MacLaren's, who's played by former WWE Diva and DWTS dancer Stacy Keibler, which is a massive improvement over previous bartenders who had rage issues, although she's still tall enough so we can see the important parts over the bar. And apparently, she hates suits, which means Barney has to lose it in order to use it her. Cue conflicted musical number!

HIMYM airs tonight at 8/7C on CBS. Read our HIMYM-inspired list of the Greatest Musical TV Moments of All Time, and for more viewing options, check out our Week in Preview!
