BLOGS
No, not Survivor. That airs Thursdays. This is Survivors, plural, as in "we need to stick together if we are going to be." This is a new version of a British sci-fi series that aired in the 1970s, about a virus that wipes out most of the world's population, leaving a small band of survivors to start over again in a broken, sparsely populated world (meaning England). Except that while the most of them are decent enough folks, one of them is a dangerous convict, who only walked out of prison after he killed the one remaining guard. So he's, like, a double secret survivor. With a gun.
The first episode tonight shows the virus wreaking havoc and the group of characters first coming together, and it features performances by a slew of genre-TV stars. Phillip Rhys (24, Nip/Tuck), Paterson Joseph (Neverwhere) and Julie Graham (Bonekickers) are all regulars. The first episode also features a couple of Doctor Who alumni: Freema Agyeman (Martha Jones) plays a school teacher, and Shaun Dingwall (Pete Tyler) plays the father of a sick boy, but whether either of them survives beyond the first episode, you'll have to watch to find out! (One of them doesn't.)
Survivors airs tonight at 8/7C on BBC America. For more, less British options, check out our Week in Preview!
