Brutal war sequences, deeply moving emotional moments between soldiers and their families and soldiers and soldiers on the battlefield, along with a breakout performance by Jon Seda that I suspect is only going to get better and better as the series goes on, has made for a nice, cinematic treat on Sunday nights. It's nice to balance the delicious inanity of Celebrity Apprentice and the bickering of Caite and Brent on The Amazing Race with something well-made and highbrow for once. Usually I break up those shows with Brothers & Sisters, and I know for a fact that's not doing my brain cells any favors.

The Pacific airs on HBO tonight at 9 PM, so stop trying to compare it to Band of Brothers and enjoy it already. It's really quite good.
