Goonies comparisons aside, this looks pretty dang cheesy, with goofy effects and lame "I'm a teenager, you wouldn't understand, OMG blah blah blah texting" dialogue. Any notable stars would have redeemed it, but Barry Bostwick and Paige Turco are the only familiar faces in the whole thing, and Turco isn't even that familiar. Bostwick is, of course, a TV regular and a commercial pitchman thanks to his velvety voice (and let us never forget The Rocky Horror Picture Show), but Paige Turco was in The Agency and Party of Five and a few episodes of Damages>. I barely recognized her, but while refreshing my memory I was pleased to see that she also played April O'Neill in two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies! You win this round, NBC Family Movie Night. Well played.
