Tragically, it seems tonight's third season finale will be the last Damages episode we'll ever see, and after such a strong creative comeback, too. I can't blame FX -- they did everything they could, but people just wouldn't watch the show, despite all of its ads and Emmys. It's really too bad. I can't think of very many current shows that are this much fun, with this fantastic a cast, and I'm going to miss it dearly. But I digress to tonight's finale.
Obviously, we all hope the Tobins are savagely ripped apart by a torch mob, but will there be time for that? We already know the 90-minute episode has to kill off Tom Shays, which could take a while to get to, and there are several other loose ends to tie up before the season (and likely the series) ends, like Michael's girlfriend stealing Patty's money, Martin Short being disbarred and Frobisher's stupid goddamn biopic that shouldn't have been a storyline. Oh, and doesn't Patty still have to remodel her apartment with Keith Carradine? That's a lot of things!
So, who kills Tom? Tobins are likely suspects, as they're just mass murderers now, and they're going to find out sooner or later that he's working with Martin Short, but the bit from the episode preview makes it sound like Patty set it up, and then had a change of heart. You know the bit -- it's the one with Glenn Close running up some stairs screaming "I TOLD YOU TO STOOOOOP!!!!!!" into a cell phone. It scares the living shit out of me every time I see it, and we all know how Patty loves hiring hitmen to kill her employees.
Damages airs on FX tonight at 10 PM, opposite many other fine programs that, no matter how good they are, are probably not having their last episode ever tonight. So watch Damages. It's the decent thing to do.

I just started watching Damages from the beginning a month or two ago and am now caught up. The first season was CRAZY and I'm kind of grateful I didn't get into it until recently since I didn't have to wait a week between episodes. Season 2 was not that exciting but Season 3 has been great (and I love me some Campbell Scott). I'll be sad to see it go.
Have they announced the cancellation officially? That's awful! I can't say I'm surprised, but I loved this show and will truly miss it.
I hope that it's not the series finale. I cannot wait to see how Keith Carradine ties into all of this. There had to be some reason that they brought an actor of his awesomeness into the mix.
Maybe I missed the reveal, but who was Patty screaming at on the phone?
I also don't know how Keith Carradine fit into this either. He meet Patty when she was pregnant, but how did he fit in to Patty's life now? Was Patty imagining him? Or was he real and he knew who exactly who she is? Could she have forgotten who he was?
