You guys remember Fringe, right? Fun little sci-fi show, been off the air since early February for no reason? Sometimes it's hard to remember certain shows exist when they're taken off the air for months on end in the middle of the network television season (and spare me the "But it works for Burn Notice!" arguments; Burn Notice is a unique beast and we all know it). Well anyway, Fringe is back tonight, and with a flashback episode, no less! Yes, boys and girls, we will finally see John Noble don an '80s wig to show us exactly how he went about stealing Peter 2 from the other side all those years ago.
I've seen tonight's episode, and though John Noble does some great work in it, and Fox has swapped the opening credits sequence for a funny retro one, the episode doesn't reveal much we didn't already know. Peter 1 got sick; Peter 1 died; Walter went to the other side and found Peter 2; Peter 2 became Peter 1. Which... was information we already had. Honestly, I could have done without it, but now that we know for sure that we're getting a Season 3 I'm not too perturbed by the time wasted on a John Noble character episode. It's nice when shows let good actors act from time to time, isn't it?
Fringe airs on Fox tonight at 9 PM, and as attractive as Grey's Anatomy, Supernatural and an airing of Captain Ron on CMT are, even disposable episodes of Fringe deserve love from time to time. Watch it!

While I appreciate the attempt to get more people to watch this show, I would've preferred this piece not to have such a spoilery flavor. Even though you didn't give anything away, please don't tell us we won't be shocked by tonight's episode either - shock is all the fun of Fringe! Thanks!
Yeah, you could have let us hope for something new. Ah, well, at least you saved us the disappointment of getting to the end and being like, "that's it?". Didn't know it was already renewed for next season! Huzzah!
It's hard to imagine writing an episode review that's any more of a buzzkill than this one.
You know, just because its information we already knew doesn't make it less important. jeez.
well, this is televisionwithoutpity, they are known to talk crap about everything and ruin the fun.
Congratulations! You have successfully discovered the "Anti-Hype" Equation. Public relations firms all over the globe are imploding, as we speak.
Well, I'm actually glad about this review. It means that Spring Break can be started as soon as I get home, with the usual "God-I-hope-I-passed-that-exam" celebratory nap attack.
Just watched the episode. You do get a little more information. The whole thing wasn't as completely pointless as represented. What happened to Nina Sharp's arm. How Walter met The Observer. The emotional cost involved in stealing your kid from his other parents. But on the whole, yes, the tidbits of new info didn't necessarily warrant a whole episode. I liked it alright anyway.
I have to say that for the last few of hours i have been hooked by the amazing articles on this site. Keep up the good work.
Natural Cures and Remedies! I left you a link back on my pr4 blogger blog. I hope that is ok.
