Hey, it's AMC's official launch of a pilot they've already aired, and have had legally streaming everywhere on the internet for quite some time now! And if that weren't already hard to get excited about, I think we've all seen the pilot by now, and let's just say that it's a lot more Prisoner than Breaking Bad, unfortunately. It could get better, it probably will, but I found this pilot so dull and deeply flawed it felt like I was watching a network pilot or something. (Ooh, burn!)
Luckily, they'll be airing episode two after it, which I haven't seen yet, but have decided to be hopeful about. I like that pineapple-head leading the show (nobody saw The Pacific, but he was very good in The Pacific), and Miranda Richardson has been the love of my life since "Fobody's nault!" on SNL in 1993, so I'm in it until at least week three, I think. And besides, what else am I going to watch at 9? True Blood? How is that a step up? Evan Rachel Wood is on it, for Christ's sake!
Rubicon premieres for a second damn time on AMC tonight at 8 PM, followed by an actually new episode, followed by, of course, Mad Men. That's your Sunday night, folks.

It's premiering for the 3rd time since they aired it after the Breaking Bad finale and the Mad Men premoere.
"A lot more Prisoner than Breaking Bad" - what does that mean? I thought the first episode set up the story well and I am in for the long haul.
Wow, you missed the boat on this one bad. Dull and deeply flawed? Did we watch the same pilot? Because I saw something that showed me a lot without telling me anything, much like the Mad Men pilot did. Or did you find that dull and deeply flawed too?
Try Leverage. That way, when Mad Men comes on, you'll still be awake.
I, too, thought the set-up was good and did not feel the "dull and deeply flawed" vibe.
I hope Mindy and recapper Sarah can be more open-minded in the future. I was not at all confused about the nature of Will's job, nor did I find the pilot (or Will) mind-numbingly slow-moving. Perhaps I'm not sophisticated enough to appreciate the nuances of these criticisms--I do enjoy a good Sudoku after all.
The series does spool out slowly, but its story line, which seems to be about a plot by some wealthy individuals and government types, is presented as a puzzle, with clues being developed in each succeeding episode. The show is not eye candy - it makes you think. Unlike most other spy/espionage dramas on TV these days. The criticisms on this blog are not fair - you have to stay with it and give it a chance.
