Actually, they might need more than an hour for tonight's episode, since it involves Shawn and Gus getting caught between rival Chinese Triad gangs. So not only are there plenty of Chinese jokes to make (about their food, language, culture, etc.), there are also jokes to make about Japanese culture: ninjas, samurai, Godzilla, etc. We're not saying that the show is culturally insensitive, we just know it won't leave a joke on the table because of some quibble over ethnicity. It's not wasteful.
