It's time for the finale of this wonderfully depressing season of Friday Night Lights, and even if this show ends on a positive note, I'll still be in a funk, because I (and all the other non-DirecTV people) have to wait another year before we get more episodes. And even then, the next season is the last. So sad. I'm getting a little teary thinking about it.
Tonight, the first season of Bethenny Getting Married? and its stupid question mark comes to an end. You know, every time I write about this show the comment thread turns into a horrible troll war, which is unpleasant, but I thought I'd risk it and highlight this finale anyway, because A) there is not much else on, as it is summer, and B) I honestly find this show very enjoyable. So suck on that, Team Jill. (I'm kidding, I'm kidding, oh my god, please stop freaking out, you invisible yet vocal Google Alert-havers!).
Wait, this show wasn't cancelled? I'll admit, after I reviewed the first episode, I kind of lost track of it. But now here it is , returning for a new season, and it looks like the same old, same old. Oh, except for one thing -- Tricia Helfer is joining the cast. I don't know why that gets me more excited for this show, since I'm not exactly a Battlestar Galactica fan (or even a fan of emaciated blondes), but I also got excited when BSG's James Callis joined Eureka, so maybe I just feel a lot of good will towards that cast.
Look, this show is totally stupid and pointless, I was quite aware of that fact when I set my DVR to record it. However, in some ways it is sort of endearing. While I hate when Bobby Flay travels around and throws down with people who claim to be the best in their fields, somehow it doesn't bother me when Shaq does it. Maybe it is because Flay actually has a shot of winning, and Shaq clearly doesn't. We know it, he knows it, the competitors know it. Or maybe it's just because Bobby is threatening the livelihoods of ordinary working class folks while Shaq is facing off against celebrities.
Uhh, what is this show? Do people know about this show? It seems to be VH1's version of The Biggest Loser (they even make the fatties dress up in pairs of brightly hued t-shirts), but they make the contestants pay in to play? So it's like I Love Money, but... backwards, and fat. OK!
