BLOGS
I am probably the one of the few people who is genuinely sad that Stan Lee is no longer looking for a costumed superhero to help save the world from crime. I loved Fat Momma, who harnessed the power of donuts or something. Anyway, Who Wants to Be a Superhero? is over, and the comic legend is now putting his stamp on this show where host Daniel Browning Smith (a man who can contort himself into some of the most disgusting and uncomfortable positions) is looking for people with actual super powers.
The show actually brings to mind Ripley's Believe It or Not, which I don't mean in a derogatory way at all. I watched that show religiously in the '80s and somewhat less frequently when Dean Cain hosted it. Basically, Daniel travels around investigating people's claims to see if they really have the powers that they claim to have. He's like a freakish Mythbuster.
In tonight's episode, there's a guy who claims he can switch off pain, a man who is known as India's Spider-Man and some guy who has the hardest muscles on earth. I can't wait to see the muscle man tested when they literally turn him into a speed bump. Gross and fascinating. That's exactly the way I like my television.
Tonight's episode airs on the History Channel at 10 PM, but if you tune in at 9 you can watch last week's, with the guy who had a truly hard skull and a man who runs marathons on a daily basis.
