Thursday, August 4, 2010: Bethenny Getting Married?

Tonight, the first season of Bethenny Getting Married? and its stupid question mark comes to an end. You know, every time I write about this show the comment thread turns into a horrible troll war, which is unpleasant, but I thought I'd risk it and highlight this finale anyway, because A) there is not much else on, as it is summer, and B) I honestly find this show very enjoyable. So suck on that, Team Jill. (I'm kidding, I'm kidding, oh my god, please stop freaking out, you invisible yet vocal Google Alert-havers!).

In tonight's episode, Bethenny suffers separation anxiety when she has to go on a business trip and leave Bryn in the capable (yet subtly disturbing) hands of Jason, which in real life means their live-in baby nurse. After an entire season, I still get a very weird vibe off Jason, but he's being supervised by a professional, so all good on the babysitting front, I suppose! But, still -- good luck, Bryn!

Bethenny Getting Married airs on Bravo tonight at 10 PM. Very exciting.

I've enjoyed every episode of this show, though last week had me in fear of both child birth and feedings so I'm very pleased the show is doing well, can't wait for next year.

Same here--I hate to say it but I find Bethenny very funny and while I feel my brain cells depleting as I watch it, hey, isn't that what summer TV is all about (Mad Men is the exception). If a TV show can offer me a good laugh, I'm all for it.

Not much else on tonight?? Big Brother elimination night, Project Runway, On the Road with Austin & Santino, Jersey Shore, So You Think You Can Dance, Boston Med, and a little series premiere called The Real Housewives of D.C. Hello!!

See, I now feel the opposite about Bethenny after watching this show. On RHONY, she was the sanest person and pretty likeable. On her own show, she appears high maintenance and kind of phony. I was rather disgusted to watch her prepare this big elaborate wedding (for a marriage that most likely won't last for a myriad of reasons) and then realize that maybe she should learn a thing or two about that baby she was going to deliver. And Jason (yes, he's weird) isn't babysitting; he's taking care of his own child.
