In tonight's season finale, Eric (a vampire) is planning to kill a vampire king by basically burning him to death (at least that seems like the plan); Sookie may finally realize that having an undead boyfriend who may occasionally kill her and always puts her in the path of danger is not necessarily a good life choice; Jason tries to be a hero and Hoyt and Jessica continue their bizarrely functional dysfunctional romance.

On the down side? More of Sam's depressing life is now combined with Tara's miserable life; Arlene will probably complain more about having a murderer's baby and it looks like Queen Sophie Anne rears her blonde head. Would it be too much to ask for Alcide to just randomly show up for this season-ender?

The finale airs at 9 PM on HBO, and I, for one, will be glued to my TV set for this (and naturally Mad Men at 10 on AMC) and DVRing the MTV Video Music Awards that start at 9, as well.
