According to NBC site, the first episode back, "Nepotism," features the following plot points: Michael refuses to fire the new office assistant, Erin shows interest in another man, and Pam pulls a prank. ...Really? A prank? Is that the sort of major event they want to kick off the season with? I'm already kinda luke-warm on the firing of a character we've never met before and relationship troubles in a fledgling romance between two exceedingly simple people, but yet another prank from the Pam/Jim camp seems like a non-event. The preview clip on the site doesn't reveal much, unless Pam's prank is getting herself and Dwight trapped in an elevator together, which seems like a terrible prank, since it involves locking yourself in an elevator with Dwight. Here's hoping it all comes together.
