If you're a comic book or horror-movie fan, or if you watch any show on AMC, then you know what's on tonight, and you probably already have plans to stay in. It's the first episode of The Walking Dead, based on the comic book about the remnants of humanity struggling to survive in a zombie-infested world, and it's AMC's latest attempt to conquer television. After all, Mad Men and Breaking Bad are both critically lauded, and while the new title lacks the alliteration of the other two, the producers seem to be aiming for the bleachers in terms of production values. Could we see a clip of people fighting zombies at the next Emmy ceremony? Here's hoping.
But seriously, the project is highly pedigreed. Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Mist) is writing and directing, Gale Anne Hurd (The Terminator, Aliens) is producing, and Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually) and Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break) star in it. The comic book is already Eisner Award-winning, and the producers seem to be trying to emulate it as closely as possible, which is probably the smartest thing they can do. And if Mad Men is frequently sexy and Breaking Bad is frequently violent, then Walking Dead is continuously gory, with realistic corpses shuffling (or lying) around and exit wounds ejecting geysers of blood. In other words, if you aren't staying home tonight, set your DVRs.
The Walking Dead premieres tonight at 10/9C on AMC, and runs 90 minutes! That means it's up against new Brothers & Sisters (ABC), CSI: Miami (CBS), Bored to Death (HBO), Eastbound & Down (HBO), Luther (BBC), Sherlock (PBS), the end of World Series Game 4 (FOX, East Coast) and a repeat of Sex Robot (DHLTH), in case you missed the first airing. (Don't worry, it'll be on again at midnight.)

So Im watching the walking dead but I don't understand what is going on that the beginning of the episode where the officer is with the sick patient at the beginning in the hospital room, is he dreaming? What is with all the people shooting? I thought they left him at the tree. I've watched the previous episodes so I know whats going on mainly..
Nice article , i agree we should fight for a better world.
