Maybe it's because we don't actually get to watch it live here in the US. Or maybe it's because we only think of BBC America as the place we go for Doctor Who and late night reruns of Monty Python Perhaps, we just just don't want to get burnt out before the Oscars. No matter the reason, it seems like every year the BAFTA Awards get ignored here in the US, but there is no reason what that should be.
While these awards aren't quite as grandiose as the Oscars, the host of the evening is Jonathan Ross, mostly known outside the UK for hosting the BAFTAs. He is also a bit of a troublemaker and, considering his friendship with Ricky Gervais, he might see if he can't rock the awards show boat, too.
The festivities will run tonight on BBC America at 8, starting with a quick pre-show red carpet summary.

Thanks for mentioning this. I've been meaning to look for it; and I'd certainly much rather watch the BAFTAs than the Grammys. Jonathan's dig at Pierce Brosnan's singing for Mamma Mia was priceless.
