The least-anticipated season finale of Desperate Housewives ever is here at last. This season has taught us that bringing back old beloved characters from earlier seasons doesn't always bring the best out of a show. It was a great surprise to see the return of Paul Young, an old enemy to Wysteria Lane, but did they do anything clever with it? They repeatedly recycled plot lines we've seen before: Paul Young's wife shoots herself, Felicia is stirring up trouble in Paul's life, Susan Mayer is a victim (this time with a kidney problems), Gaby ticks off Carlos, and Lynette can't keep her man happy. Can this show's season finale save what might be its weakest season?
At the very least, tonight's episode will hopefully clue us in our who the new neighbor will be, since we can count on Paul Young's story to wrap up, as per Desperate Housewives' new-neighbor tradition. The bigger question is whether they'll give Vanessa Williams any real story of her own instead of adding her weak punchlines to whatever conversation the writers have decided to drop her into. Will Bob and Lee finally have their own secrets to hide on the neighborhood block? Don't count on it. After this season, we can be assured that Desperate Housewives has gotten -- to use their own words -- desperate.
The Desperate Housewives season finale airs on ABC tonight at 9 PM, opposite a new episode of Survivor: Redemption Island(CBS), a new episode of Celebrity Apprentice(NBC) and Family Guy (FOX).

as much as I enjoy this show, I wish they were ending it after 7 seasons like the originally planned to...instead of milking it for another 2 seasons. Is ABC that starved for ratings?
What a bitter nasty review. Yes the show hasn't been its best this Season, but its far from the worst.
That honor goes to Season 5.
If you have nothing good to say you shouldn't be writing reviews of shows you don't like it just shows that you are an idiot.
And Andy I wish they would end this Season too but it's currently in their Top 3 rated shows, but hopefully they will announce Season 8 as the final one.
Completely agree!
This is Television Without Pity, but these reviews have become Television Without Snarky Humor. It's all acerbic, without any punch, and the only reason why I even continue on the site is my friends on the forums. Without the forums, this site would be Television Website Without Viewers.
I'm disappointed that you choose to write a scathing, humorless review of Desperate Housewives instead of either (a) a snarky review, what this site used to be known for, or (b) a snarky review of Survivor. I was expecting something great in today's telefile, but now I'm coming away disappointed.
One person's "bitter" is another person's "honest." I actually only watch Desperate Housewives anymore to fully appreciate Jacob's incredible recaps.
This review is pretty accurate... it's only a blog plot, I didn't expect it to be overly detailed. This is actually the worst season of this show, even worse than 5, if possible!!
You bitter clingers!!
If I had to rank the seasons, I would rank them like this, from best to worst:
1) Seasons 1, 3, 4 - Couldn't pick which one was the best, all 3 were great, so...a tie
2) 6
3) 7
4) 5
5) 2
So, while season 7 was isn't in the bottom 1/2...I still liked it, and would probably give it a B/B-. But still, they should just end the show instead of dragging it out for another 2 years...I also hope season 8 is the last. It's been a fun show, it's had a good run...time to end it.
Yawn. Claiming a show has had its "worst season ever" all too often comes across as an easy attention getting device. Of course if Paul Young and Felicia come back to the show, they are going to be concerned with unfinished business. Lynette, Gabby etc.... are having the same sort of problems they've had before? It's called character continuity, and this is what makes characters believable and worthy of the viewers' interest, no matter outlandish storylines they become involved with. If the cast had acted out of character, you just know some bloggers would have been complaining about that too.
Esto era y conmigo.
