TLC continues to demonstrate that people you didn't actually believe existed do (e.g. a woman addicted to eating couch cushions and women who don't know they're pregnant) with tonight's premiere of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. Remember when you dressed up as Esmeralda one Halloween and that was the extent of your gypsy knowledge? Not anymooore!
The show is a seven-part series that originally premiered in the UK and reveals the hidden world of modern-day gypsies by documenting their weddings, communions, christenings and the like. Through these events, you'll see the culture and traditions of a community that lives on the fringes of society. The series promises to show the "relatable in the extraordinary," but the horrifying promo picture of bridesmaids in hot pink tutus might have one beg to differ.
My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding airs on TLC tonight at 9 PM, opposite Game of Thrones (HBO) and Audrina (VH1).

I tuned in because I am legitimately fascinated by Gypsy culture after I watched a documentary in high school called "American Gypsy." Great stuff. But, yeah, to agree with Dick, these are no gypsies, at least of Romany descent. Irish Travellers.
Oh, and Annalisa, I agree with you about "Toddlers and Tiaras" being absolutely disgusting (at least, I assume that's what you're referring to). TCL - or TLC, as I like to call them - are really horrible for the most part, but I couldn't help but check this show out.
Keep it cmnoig, writers, this is good stuff.
