The show starts with not one, but two pre-shows -- Countdown to the American Music Awards, which will air live on ABC at 7 PM, and Coca-Cola Red Carpet LIVE! @ the 2011 AMAs, an online pre-show beginning at 5 PM hosted by Lance Bass and Xzibit (so that's what he's been up to since Pimp My Ride!), among others. Nicki Minaj and David Guetta will open the AMAs with a live performance, followed by the awards that fans voted for. Katy Perry (who received three nominations), Pitbull, Justin Bieber (assuming he's not like, a grandfather by then) and Maroon 5 are among the night's performers, while Minaj and Pitbull will host.

The American Music Awards air live tonight at 8 PM on ABC.
