Monday, December 12, 2011: Fear Factor

Remember years ago in 2001 when that show about people competing for a measly $50,000 by jumping around buildings, eating 94,837,073-year-old eggs and hanging out in tanks with creepy crawlers was the thing to watch on TV? Well, it's back -- and now we can see the bugs in all their HD glory.

The format of the new Fear Factor is the same -- four pairs compete against each other in three stunts for the grand prize, with one team eliminated each round. This time around, however, the stunts are literally exploding. One of them features a contestant hanging from a wire attached to a helicopter that carries them through a rock quarry. There, they find a box with a remote control that controls a full size pickup truck. They have to drive the truck to an ammo dump, hop in the back, and pull flags out of barrels until the truck runs out of road to drive along. Then, the helicopter hoists them to "safety" as the truck hits a barrier and explodes. Between that and returning host Joe Rogan, you can count us out of competing.

Fear Factor premieres tonight at 8 PM on NBC.

Do you guys watch anything for fun?

A group of us watched both episodes last night and had a ball. It's total cheese, and throwaway entertainment but Joe Rogan will never use up the residual love from five seasons of Newsradio. I watched Fear Factor before, and I'll watch it now.

I’ve always loved Fear Factor. Even though it can be a little much at some points, it is still a great show. I didn’t get a chance to watch the new episodes when they aired because I was at the airport waiting for my flight to Cali. I just finished watching the first and second episode on DISH Online and it was great! The Blood Bath part of the first show was just like a horror movie! Awesome! Considering I work and subscribe to DISH, I have become quite familiar with DISH Online, and there are thousands of shows available even if you aren’t a customer! If you missed Fear Factor, go watch it!
