Saturday, December 31, 2011: New Year's Eve Specials

It's the last day of 2011! Have you seen the terrible New Year's Eve yet? Have you looked through all of our Year in Review galleries yet? Good, let's get to business and figure out what to watch tonight to ring in 2012.

In honor of Dick Clark, ABC is running New Year's Rockin' Eve: The 40th Anniversary Party hosted by Jenny McCarthy and Fergie at 8 PM. Then at 10:00 is ABC's main event, Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012 which will be in Time Square with live performances by Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Pitbull and Hot Chelle Rae. There's also a handful of pre-taped musical acts to air throughout the night, too.

On NBC at 10 PM, there's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly, also in Times Square and throughout New York City. Carson (with the help of J.B. Smoove and NBC's Today correspondent Amy Robach) will be hanging out with Drake, Jessie J, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, The Roots, Tony Bennett and upcoming Smash star Megan Hilty -- you know, just in case you didn't know why NBC is the No. 1 network in terms of product placement. Jimmy Fallon will be around for a comedy performance from the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, and Brian Williams will give a music review of 2011.

CBS is showing The Bourne Ultimatum starting at 8:30 PM, but that's it. If you're in to Country, Fox is hosting American Country New Year's Eve Live with performances by Lauren Alaina (American Idol) and Rodney Atkins, with coverage of the Times Square ball drop.

If you prefer your night to be a bit more mellow, catch Coldplay New Year's Eve: An Austin City Limits Special on PBS at 11 PM for 90 minutes.

Or finally, get down with the kids on MTV with NYE in NYC 2012, where Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Jason Derulo, Mac Miller and J.Cole are expected to perform. Demi Lovato and Teen Wolf's Tyler Posey will be hosting.

If Jennie McCarthy is wearing real fur, I've lost all respect for her.... if its not real, its a great imitation.

She is vegan...so I highly doubt it is real fur but...I hope at some point she made the audience realize it was not real.

Remember our ancestors had to wear fur to survive. Get over this @#&* about fur coats! If you don't want to wear one... don't

Did anybody tune in to CNN. One major demerit: the bit where Green Goblin from Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark kidnapped Anderson Cooper. So cheesy. The rest was boss, and Kathy Griffin found new ways to stun Anderson. Great times.

Wait . . . no ball dropping on ABC?!? But isn't that network the one with the huge NYE tradition and Dick Clark soaking in formaldehyde?

Jenny was not wearing a real fur you can tell the fake from real. It was Imitation Monkey Fur. NO need to panic. This is'nt the 70's. the making of Monkey fur coats were banned in the 70's.
