Sunday, June 3, 2012: 21st Annual MTV Movie Awards

The 21st Annual MTV Movie Awards airs tonight, which means that it's finally time to once again sort of honor all of those films that you kind of remembered seeing.

In recent years, the MTV Movie Awards has become a mere vehicle for providing golden popcorn awards to anything remotely associated with Twilight. While we love a good awkward acceptance speech by Kristen Stewart, this year the conflicting fandom of The Hunger Games has seemed to cause a bigger division than that whole Team Edward-Team Jacob thing. Need proof? Stewart and Robert Pattinson went unrecognized this year for their turn in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I while both Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson were nominated for Hunger Games. Fear not, TwiHards -- the couple is still nominated for the Best Kiss category... though we're kind of hoping that the Ron/Hermoine lip lock from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 will take that award home. We've also got our fingers crossed that host Russell Brand won't run the entire night into the ground.

The awards show starts tonight at 9 PM on MTV. Keep your dial tuned to MTV after the awards for the Season 2 premiere of Teen Wolf. Or, if you're planning on avoiding MTV all together, the 70-minute Season 2 finale of HBO's Game of Thrones begins at 9 PM opposite Lifetime's Season 4 premiere of Drop Dead Diva.
