New year, plenty of new shows. This drama on NBC is trying to capture a little bit of the success that Revenge has had with a rich family doing bad things and a woman with a childhood connection to them trying to expose their crimes. Here, Joanna (Meagan Good) is less out for cold blood, and is doing more detecting and whatnot, but there's still plenty of of soapiness.

Joanna is a cop who finds it suspicious that her former childhood BFF (who creates tabloid headlines a la Lindsay Lohan) died of causes other than outright homicide. So she goes "undercover" at the Bower family home to get to the bottom of the case.

It's got Victor Garber, a solid mystery and a bit of potential... though we're worried it might suffer longevity problems if it makes it to season 2... just look at Revenge.

Deception debuts at 10 PM on NBC.
