Still think Netflix isn't trying to be like HBO? Now they've got their very own jailbird series.
Granted, it's hard to say whether Orange is the New Black will be as brutally graphic as Oz, but expect a similarly potent blend of dark comedy and richly dramatic storytelling. Taylor Schilling takes on Lee Tergesen's old role as a new fish tossed into a maximum security female-only tank, where she encounters prison vets played by such famous faces as Kate Mulgrew, Taryn Manning and Natasha Lyonne. Meanwhile, her boyfriend (Jason Biggs) tries to adjust to their new living arrangements. Netflix is certainly high on the show... they ordered a second season even before all 13 episodes were released en masse for binge viewing.
Orange is the New Black is available for streaming on Netflix today. On terrestrial television, there's a new episode of The Hero on TNT at 8 PM, and a new Burn Notice at 9 PM on USA. 10 PM brings new episodes of Wilfred on FX and Rookie Blue on ABC.
