Bring on the bad guys! Ever since the first episode, when Jim Powell faced off against a teleporter, he's had to handle some pretty ordinary villains. There were those bank robbers in the second episode (he flipped their getaway van), those wedding robbers in the third (he threw them off a roof), and that lone gunman in the park last week (uh, the cops get him while he was at a ball game). And while we understand the need to not peak too early (see Heroes) and to avoid "freak of the week" territory (Smallville), we've been dying for some good, old-fashioned supervillains. This week, we get one.

I can't think of a show I'm looking forward to more than The Cape. Maybe it's because I'm a comic-book nerd who's been disappointed by No Ordinary Family (and Heroes before that, and Birds of Prey before that...), but I just want to see a straightforward superhero TV show. Not a show about a family with powers just trying to be a family (despite doing things each week that would be preposterous even in a comic book) -- a show about heroes in costumes fighting villains in costumes, without crapping all over an established property that it will inevitably get wrong. The Cape really seems like just what the Doctor Strange ordered.

Who would have thought that ABC would be the one to pick up the Heroes torch and launch their own superhero drama? Especially since they don't really have any other fantasy or sci-fi shows in their fall line-up, which means that this family-with-powers show gets paired up with the results episode of Dancing With the Stars. We'd say good luck getting the superhero-lovers to stick around and watch DWTS (especially not that Hasselhoff is gone), but the network is already going to have their hands full keeping the show from degenerating into a Heroes-esque morass.
