Here's my thing with this show. I get that everyone thinks it's stupid (and I agree that it is), and overly complicated in an extremely silly way (can't argue there either), and that the flashbacks are irritating and disruptive (I think they're fine, but to each his own) but... overall I think it's really fun? And awesome? It's just such a fantastic guilty pleasure show. Yes, it was really, really ridiculous for Leila's kidnappers to stage her escape and take over the police station she would run to instead of just holding a gun to her head and making her call Sean right in that basement or whatever, but that police station shoot-out was awesome. In fact, all the action sequences have been, to invoke an over-used comparison, 24-level fun, as far as I'm concerned. And the show even comes 24-complete with a really annoying, wish-washy President and everything!
It's the series finale for this poor, canceled, terrible show. It started with a nifty plane disappearance, and it ends with one of the dumbest alien invasion plots ever aired on television finally limping to fruition. Or maybe not! Sophia's pretty incompetent, so maybe it won't happen. Luckily for her, the humans she's trying to exterminate are even dumber than she is.
Coming out of winter hibernation tonight, The Event better have an awesome "previously on" supercut to start off with, because I can barely remember anything about this show beyond that girl shooting herself in the knee a few episodes back. Maybe you all have better memories then me and can remember things like which characters are aliens, who was in on the assassination plot, and why the show is called The Event. You would think that NBC would be nice enough to put out a DVD of the first half of the season, like Fox did with Glee.
