The Hills are alive... with the sound of Kristin Cavallari. I've personally not given her much thought since Laguna Beach ended, but apparently whatever loftier aspirations she had didn't pan out that well for her and now she's back in this fake-reality downward spiral.

It sort of feels like the end of an era. Lauren Conrad is leaving The Hills after tonight's season finale. It seems like she's actually grown up and doesn't have time for the frivolous discussions and forced fights with frenemies any more. Good for her. Also, good for us.

We don't ordinarily combine two shows here in Going Through Channels, but considering that even together these barely are able to hold our interest long enough to write a couple paragraphs, they are lucky to get mentioned at all.

Obviously, since I've been obsessed with Sundance Channel's Be Good Johnny Weir, I'm going to spend most of my evening watching the Men's Figure Skating Finals to see if adorable little Johnny can pull out a medal, but I'm almost equally as excited for the season premiere of LA Ink. Yes, it's a show about tattoos and the drama seems forced and staged, but I just can't help myself. It's like an edgier, older version of The Hills.

Season 7,683,412.839 of The Hills is back, y'all! Okay, it's really only Season 5...but this show is soooooo tedious that it feels longer. However, as every magazine or website that is willing to give space to pictures of shiny fauxlebrities seems to be intent in hammering into our brains, this is Lauren Conrad's last season! Got that everyone, she's not going to be on the show anymore! Okay, then...but since MTV hasn't actually said anything about canceling the series, does this mean that it could go on without her? And without Audrina, who is leaving The Hills after making a deal with Mark Burnett? Gosh, who does that leave...Speidi! A show about Speidi! Except guess what: that show would be the end of civilization as we know it. Hopefully MTV has the wisdom to understand that and act accordingly.
