Martin Sheen is featured on tonight's welcome-back episode of Who Do You Think You Are? I have to say, if I were him, I don't think the correct answer would be, "Proud papa of Charlie, of course!"
If you've ever wanted to know more about Lisa Kudrow's background, tune in tonight to find out. I'm not against people seeking out their family roots and learning where they came from. In fact, I think it's kind of cool. Personally, I don't have the energy for it, but I do especially like it when people dig up old murderers or criminals. However, I don't particularly care enough to watch an hour on one person's search. I've tried watching a couple episodes of this now, and I keep zoning out.
Returning for a second season tonight is NBC's Who Do You Think You Are? The
commercial for Ancestry.com show that features celebrities doing genealogy research in the hopes of answering the titular question about themselves. While way more interesting than its BBC original, not even people who subscribe to a genealogy website are likely to sit through a whole episode.
Who Do You Think You Are? is a British series that has aired on the BBC since 2004. I'm not sure I find the idea of watching celebrities trace their ancestries interesting, but the show rakes in over 6 million viewers an episode over there, and Lisa Kudrow was big enough of a fan to create an American adaptation, so it must be doing something right.
