The show that got nominated in just about every negative Tubey category and won the award for "Worst Payoff" after Booth and Bones hooked up offscreen is finally back.

Happy Birthday, Bones! The show is celebrating its 100th episode tonight and heading back in time to celebrate. The show is looking back to the very first time that Booth and Brennan were on a case together, which actually seems like it could be fun. Hoping they'll really exaggerate Brennan's social awkwardness and literal mindedness, because I always loved that back in the day. I'd also love it if the Chinese restaurant made a return.

Bones is getting closer and closer to giving up being about murder mysteries every week, while spending most of each episode dealing with the characters' own issues. A season or two ago I might have been annoyed by an episode like the one tonight, in which everyone is stuck dealing with their own little issues (including Booth and Brennan's feeling for each other) because it represented a heavy-handed turn toward a show I hadn't tuned in for. Strangely though, since that sea change the cast seems comfortable and charming all over again, making me not even care if there are any crimes or not.

It's that time of year again. When the American Idol juggernaut takes over Fox and all their decent shows get shuffled off to various new and different time slots. Bones, which has been all over their schedule in its four seasons, has now landed on Thursday nights at 8 PM, where it is up against Smallville, My Name Is Earl, Survivor and Ugly Betty. While it may involve a bit of DVR juggling, it's worth finding something to bump, especially for this week's circus/conjoined twin-themed episode. Though tonight, you'll need to make room for two hours, since this winter premiere was supposed to happen last week and got bumped because of George W.'s goodbye speech.
