Oh Lawson brothers, how I've missed you. Royal Pains is my favorite hidden summer gem -- I stumbled upon the show by accident during its pilot episode and found myself watching eagerly every week after. It's the perfect show for this time of year -- appropriately light, but also consistently entertaining, delivering solid pop culture references (my favorite) and a substantial amount of guy love (also my favorite) as well. Tonight, everyone's favorite concierge doctor and his goofball brother return for another summer in the Hamptons.

What? There's a new concierge doctor in the Hamptons? How will HankMed survive now that he doesn't have the entire Hamptons as his clientele? Something tells us he'll do okay, as long as he doesn't let his brother Evan give their father the Fonz all their money again. But will this sexy blonde doc be a business rival, a rival for Hank's affections towards Jill, or both? We're gonna go with "both," because there is nothing sexier than an open market. Start stealing his clients now, Jill!

The breakout hit of 2009 has one more episode following concierge doctor Hank Lawson as he treats the rich and famous in the Hamptons on Long Island. Not surprisingly, the show was renewed for a second season, because apparently we can't get enough of rich people and their problems, which explains The Hills, 90210 and Gossip Girl. I almost wish this show would cross over with GG, if only because I want to see somebody give Chuck Bass a tracheotomy with a pen.

I am a sucker for medical dramas the way that some people will watch every crime-scene show or law show that is out there. Medical series are my weakness. Even bad ones I tend to give a second look, even when they don't really deserve it. However, this Hamptons-set series is actually surprisingly decent and continues to keep me entertained, even after the first episode. I know it is predictable and whatever, but for me, it is a fun summer series, with a lead who I find charming and appealing and a cast that works well together. Some people really like Psych, and I think this has a similar vibe, but it's medical cases instead of mysteries. Just what I needed! How did USA know? There's something about this cast together that just works... and maybe while I sit in my small rain-soaked yard with a kiddie pool and no personal gardener, it is nice to be taken away to the rich lush world of the Hamptons and see a character who just walks to the beat of his own drummer. I'm not saying that it is the best show on TV, but it's leaps and bounds better than Hawthorne.
