Tale as old as time, done to death, even on TV. Now it's back again, with excessively pretty people trying to be ugly, but lacking any musical numbers or dancing teapots… it's The CW's Beauty and the Beast.

Billy Crystal's return as host was a boring bust, as was the telecast as a whole thanks to its few surprises and endless montages.

A surprisingly neutered Ricky Gervais headlined a mostly dull and occasionally excruciating telecast. But at least Homeland won two much-deserved awards.
