Indie Snapshot: Hours

Since his tragic death on November 30 at the far-too-young age of 40, much has been written about Paul Walker, praising not only the actor's magnetic presence on screen, but his generous nature off-screen. Walker was a compassionate everyman who just so happened to have movie star looks. He was a father, a friend and someone that fans felt they could relate to. It's all of those things -- and so much more -- that make watching Hours, one of Walker's final screen performances (not to mention one of his most personal ones) such a bittersweet experience. Hours seems to capture much of Walker's spirit -- as well as challenged the actor in ways we hadn't really seen before -- but you're watching with the knowledge that the actor had so much more to give us, and that just feels unfairly cruel. When Walker's character utters in disbelief, "I don't get it. This wasn't supposed to happen" that is a sentiment that feels all too familiar in the wake of his passing.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Describes the Rush of Making Premium Rush

Before he co-starred in The Dark Knight Rises as Batman's cop sidekick, Joseph Gordon-Levitt played a hero who zips though a major metropolis on his own version of the Batpod: a single-geared, brakeless bike. The hero in question is Wilee, the speed-addicted bike messenger at the center of Premium Rush, which was shot on the streets and roads of New York two years ago and is opening in theaters tomorrow. Co-written and directed by David Koepp (whose past credits include the screenplays for Jurassic Park and the first Spider-Man and director of Stir of Echoes), the movie finds Wilee trying to complete an express delivery of a valuable package while staying one bike line ahead of a corrupt cop (Michael Shannon) who is on his tail. Don't let the lack of bat ears or Batarangs fool you; Wilee's superb bike skills practically make him a superhero in his own right. We spoke with Koepp and Gordon-Levitt about what it was like to shoot such a fast-paced thriller, what lessons the actor learned from 3rd Rock From the Sun and why Die Hard With a Vengeance is one of the best New York movies ever made.

An Office Romance At 30 Rock

An Office Romance At 30 Rock Fans of 30 Rock and The Office rejoice! The stars of both shows respectively are teaming up to play a married couple in Shawn Levy's upcoming Date Night. Steve Carrell and Tina Fey, masters of uncomfortable comedy and hilarious slapstick, will embark on a series of comic misadventures in the 2009 release. Variety says Josh Klausner's script "follows a couple who find their routine date night becomes much more than just dinner and a movie." Since Steve and Tina are married, I know one thing that won't be happening on their eventful date night: Sex!
