Four years ago, God (and Hollywood) saw fit to grace us with a sequel to Dirty Dancing. Two years ago, we got a straight-to-DVD sequel to Road House. Well, now the Patrick Swayze hat-trick (Pat-Trick?) is about to be complete, as more details come out regarding the planned Point Break sequel, Point Break Indo!
Taking place in Indonesia (or "Indo," as the kids with passports are calling it), the film will reportedly follow surfer and special ops military-type Billy Dalton (no relation to Road House's James Dalton...or is there?) as he pursues the perfect wave on a vacation to Bali. While there, he's recruited by a private security firm to help catch a gang known as "The Bush Administration." Apparently, they aren't the real Bush administration, but a band of surfer-robber-pirates following the same modus operandi as an old, mask-wearing California gang from the early 1990s known as...the Ex-Presidents!
Casting has not been announced, but the studio has reached out to both Swayze and his Break co-star Keanu Reeves. And don't count either one out yet, because Swayze deigned to appear in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights and Reeves may be coerced into re-teaming with his Speed helmer, Jan de Bont. (Granted, Reeves chose not to come back when Mr. Of Bont directed Speed 2, but let's try not to think about that.)
Mr. Of Bont's production company has promised "the most extreme action stunts ever caught on camera." Coming from the cinematographer behind Who's That Girl?, I can believe it.
