My love for Rainn Wilson, and by extension his Office character Dwight Schrute, knows no bounds. Nor does my love for -- I won't lie -- The Transformers' Bumblebee (and, okay, pretty much everything about The Transformers). So it's been an exciting day in Kaseyland, as it was announced today that Wilson will have a role in DreamWorks' upcoming TTransformers 2. With the full cast of stars -- Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro (and Bumblebee! And Optimus Prime!) -- returning, the addition of Rainn Wilson certainly does a happy Kasey make.
Says The Hollywood Reporter, "Although a small part, Wilson's casting -- his first in a big-budget studio franchise -- could be a shrewd play for a comedy crowd that might not otherwise patronize a bombastic Bay extravaganza." They say "shrewd," I say "awesome." According to THR, he will play a college professor to LaBeouf's co-ed character. Though further script details for the flick remain under wraps, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who wrote last year's blockbuster, are also undertaking writing duties for the sequel. Filming began recently in Los Angeles, and will soon move to (Scranton?!) Pennsylvania, and then overseas.
I'd like to take the reins from Wilson's agent for a moment and personally offer him up for work in several other future sequels. I think parts could be found for him in Beverly Hills Cop IV, possibly as a meter maid commandeered into service by Axel Foley. Same goes for Iron Man 2, as agent in Nick Fury's S.H.I.E.L.D. And we all know I feel strongly that the next three Terminators could use some help, though to continue deserving my adulation, Wilson will need to stay far, far away. So let's go here, casting people. Let's make this happen.
