Now, Brian De Palma's oeuvre does not contain the most lighthearted fare (his nods to Hitchcock are pretty legendary), but enough with the creepy, real-life, disturbing movies, dude. Personally I was shocked to find out that De Palma hadn't been involved with last year's Zodiac. Whatever happened to big fun movies like his Mission: Impossible or Mission to Mars? They may not have been the lightest of summer movies, but at least they didn't have you sleeping with a baseball bat beside your bed and the lights on for two weeks after your trip to the theater. Surely there's another movie out there with "mission" in the title that won't have half the movie-going population looking into firearm procurement and industrial strength Ambien? I'd even go for another legendary rock anthology from the man that brought us Bruce Springsteen: The Complete Video Anthology 1978-2000. Well, there's a foot-wide space open on my DVD-CD shelves, Mr. De Palma, and I hear Fleetwood Mac is free.
