The Transformers Roll Out Again

I must be a glutton for punishment. Despite not liking the first Transformers movie (although I like this one), I am desperate for new information about the sequel. Maybe it's because I used to work in the toy industry, or maybe it's because I subconsciously liked it on some level. No, that second one is too horrible to contemplate. Let's say it's entirely professional curiosity. It will help me sleep at night.

Regardless, I should find out my true motivations soon, as the first images from the set are starting to leak out. Filming began this week at an old Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, steel factory, and amateur photographers have snagged pictures of the factory lit up at night with helicopters and a kinda boring street during the day. No, the white tractor trailer truck is not Ultra Magnus. As far as I know. There is also video footage of the helicopters taking off, provided by WFMZ-TV 69 TV of central PA. (Hey, the Lehigh Valley Classic has hit the streets of Allentown!)

Speaking of Ultra Magnus, what robots are in this thing, anyway? Well, some pictures have leaked out of vehicles, including police car Barricade, a foreign police car who might be Prowl and Ironhide with a black motorcycle/jet-ski thing that might be ...uh, the cartoon Prowl? I have no idea. Some people are even saying Soundwave and the Constructicons are in it. But whoever they use, expect as many as 20 robots according to Roberto Orci, who I once had the pleasure of interviewing before the first movie came out. He even sent me a thank-you card! What a swell guy. Call me, Bob!

Speaking of swell guys, isn't that Matthew Marsden a swell guy? No? Don't know him? He was in Rambo and Resident Evil: Extinction? Didn't see them, huh? Well, he's in Transformers 2, along with The Office's Rainn Wilson. Marsden plays a British Special Forces agent, and Wilson plays a college professor, although I would have liked to seen those roles reversed. Comedian Jonah Hill apparently declined to be in the film, but the cast is getting two new blonde Australian actresses, Isabel Lucas and Teresa Palmer to replace the not-returning blonde Australian actress Rachel Taylor, who played a computer coding expert for the U.S. government. Also returning to the film are Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro, who apparently didn't get peed on enough the first time.

...Yup, that did it. I still hate the first movie. Whew!
