Universal Studios Blaze Threatens Hill Valley

The fire at Universal Studios that broke out at 4:30 a.m. Sunday destroyed part of a set from Back to the Future; the King Kong exhibit; some New York City and New England streetscapes; and, reportedly, a chunk of music history. [Don't worry -- the old clock tower from BTTF is fine. - Z]

Universal Studios President Ron Meyer said at a news conference on Sunday that the theme park would remain open; that film negatives were not destroyed; that the video library was damaged; but that there are duplicates of everything; that the firefighters arrived quickly and were heroes; and that all in all, "We were very lucky." He also added that some of the eight sets for Ghost Whisperer were damaged, but that the show will go on without delay. I'm not sure if that makes us lucky or unlucky, but oh well.

Los Angeles news station KNBC has continuing full coverage of the fire, including video and a photo gallery of images of the fire submitted to the TV station by viewers. Meanwhile, to see continuing footage of Jennifer Love Hewitt's cleavage, click here.
