I won't deny that I loved the first one. And by first I mean last summer's version--the one that was based on the stage musical (which in turn was based on the 1988 movie version). I'm a sucker for catchy tunes and choreographed group dance numbers and Christopher Walken. Which means I'll probably go see the sequel. Waters is currently in production on Fruitcake about a boy named after his favorite dessert, which promises to be just as weird as it sounds. Hopefully he'll get the really demented Waters trademark shit out of the way on that flick and leave the mostly normal stuff for Hairspray 2. I mean, a Hairspray movie should be a little weird, but a Pink Flamingo-esque dog crap scene shouldn't really be set to music. Though if anyone could pull it off, it would probably be Christopher Walken.
