Invisible Man Resurfaces A sequel to The Invisible Man is in the works, according to ShockTillYouDrop.com. I'm not talking about the similarly-titled Chevy Chase movie from 1992, or any of the series that have been popping up on TV every few years since the 1950s. No, this is going to be a sequel to the original movie based on the H.G. Wells story that your great-grandparents saw in the theaters three-quarters of a century ago. Man, and I thought twenty-five years was a long time to wait for a Tron follow-up.

The announcement came from David Goyer, shortly after debuting promotional footage of his The Unborn at Comic-Con. Goyer is presently at work writing the Invisible script. According to him, Universal hired "some conceptual artists" who are "working tandem" with him. One of the artists is Jamie Rama, who also worked on Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. That bodes well for the looks of the project, but what about the story?

Goyer's take will be a "period piece...loaded with historical figures" from Britain around the time of WWII. According to the article, the movie "[picks] up several months after the events of Wells' novel." Goyer's story sees the Brits attempting to turn the Invisible Man into a secret agent, which should be a neat trick, considering he was [spoiler alert!] beaten to a bloody pulp and died in the book. And while alive was nuttier than a ten-pound fruitcake and twice as deadly. Desperate times call for desperate, nutty measures, I guess.

It's too early to cite an exact release date, but the Invisible Man will probably start materializing in theaters some time in 2010.
